Gerrit Laurier (1949)  knew in his younger years already, that he would be a painter. He grew up in a traditional society where there was no affinity with art. However, all he saw and experienced was recorded on the broad mental screen, which he was talented with.  He graded 1977 at Abk 'Academie Minerva'. All of then and the presence is projected in his recent works wich can be seen on this pages. As an magician Laurier converts his images to paintings. Recently his subjects are townscapes, catched in an impressionistic atmosphere and lots of pastel hues. Vague and hazy as un-ended stories. Stories, which give the spectator room to adjust it with his own dramatic turns and maybe happy-endings. Working with light and motion, he interprets his perceptions with verve. Painting loosely, his canvases sparkle with life's joy.
